Reached down a leafy lane lined with Oak trees, the yurt
is a 20 foot diameter, felt-lined Ornate Turkmen built from Ash trees sourced
from the Glyndebourne Forest and is of a strikingly beautiful construct. It has a 6 foot roof wheel which is great for lighting during the day and on
clear nights gives
fine views of the stars; it is also possible to partially open
up the roof. There are barn owls, badgers and rabbits for company and the
surroundings are usually alive with birdsong, with an amazing morning and dusk
chorus. Externally the
yurt is surrounded by decking and is separated from the campsite in its own private
space including a firepit and picnic table; there is parking very close by.
Internally the yurt is decorated in an eclectic but chiefly Tibetan style and is
- a Morso Wood Burning Stove.
A radiator is also available for additional warmth.
- 2 x Deluxe Handmade Taurus beds (90cm x 180cm);
including firm 'orthopaedic' mattresses
- Quality bedding including duck down duvets
and pillows. Egyptian Cotton bed linen.
- Kettle, mini-fridge, electric lighting. Complimentary
coffee provided. Complimentary mineral water.
- Chairs, small table and other basic furniture
- Travel cot available
- Commode (optional!). A short walk
from the yurt are 2 toilets and a basic shower.
- Outside - picnic bench, parasol, fire bowl.
- Small shop on site - milk, eggs, wood etc
occasional homemade bread.
The yurt is ideal for two but certainly has the space, if not the actual
to accommodate more and is easily adaptable to small family occupation. It can
be made up as either a twin or a double as in the pictures below - please let us
know which you prefer on booking.
Sorry... no pets are allowed in the yurt.
Apart from the electric kettle, toaster,
mini fridge and wood stove, there are currently no
catering facilities available at the yurt. We do have a small shop on site for
basic supplies including local raw milk and yoghurt as well as free range eggs
(the ones from our chickens, when available, are organic). We also bake our own
organic seeded sourdough bread. At extra cost we can provide a simple breakfast and there are tea and coffee making
facilities available in the yurt. There is plenty of space outside for cooking for those who have their
own cooking equipment. If required a firebowl is available for outside
cooking. Most importantly however, a 10 minute walk from the yurt is the Red Lion 'gastro'
pub which does great lunches and dinners (and good beer!). We also recommend the Rainbow Trout
in Broad Oak, a walk or a short driving distance away. Various restaurants in Rye will also deliver
as far as Brede. Depending upon availability organic vegetables available for
purchase from our 'vegetarian organic' vegetable garden...
